The Lagan Navigation Trust values everyone who engages with us by whatever means, and we do all we can to fully protect your privacy and to make sure the personal data you provide us is kept safe.

Our Privacy Notice is designed to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). And is issued in the interests of transparency over how we use (‘Process’) the Personal Data we collect.

Information That We Collect

Lagan Navigation Trust stores contact information on the people and organisations that we work with or who have expressed an interest in our work.  We collect personal information each time you deal with us, for example, when you submit an application, make a donation, request information, sign up for an event, provide comments or fill in a form online.

In the past we have used this information to send a very occasional general update about some aspect of our work or upcoming events.  From May 25th 2018, we will need your consent to be able to do this.

What We Do With Your Personal Data

We may use the personal data we collect to:

  • Keep you up to date on news and stories about our work.
  • Ask for financial or non-financial support, such as volunteering or participation in events.
  • Process donations you give us, or to support your fundraising for us.
  • Keep records of your relationship with us, for example, questions you have asked or suggestions or complaints you have made.
  • Conduct market research to aid our understanding of our supporters and their views.

How And Where We Store Your Information

How Long?

We will keep your personal information only for as long as we consider it necessary to carry out each activity.

We have a data retention policy to implement this. Heather do we?? We take account of legal obligations and accounting and tax considerations as well as considering what would be reasonable for the activity concerned.

How Safe Is The Personal Information We Hold?

Lagan Navigation Trust takes your privacy seriously and takes every reasonable measure and precaution to protect and secure your personal data.  We work hard to protect you and your information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction and have several layers or security measures in place including: restricted access; IT authentication; anti-virus/malware and firewalls.

We ensure that access to personal data is restricted only to those staff members or volunteers whose job roles require such access and that suitable training is provided for these staff members and volunteers.

How We Treat Children and Vulnerable Persons

Aged Under 13

We do not actively seek to collect children’s data.  If at any time we create any materials which may lead to someone aged under 13 years providing their details, we make it clear that we will need their parent/guardian’s permission before giving personal data or we collect that data anonymously.

Supporters in Vulnerable Circumstances

We recognise the importance of identifying and supporting people in vulnerable circumstances.  Staff who send or respond to supporter emails, mailings or calls are trained to be aware of, to identify signs of vulnerable circumstances and to deal with the person appropriately.

Your Rights

We fully recognise your right to have your data removed, to be forgotten, to opt out of communications or withdraw consent and to have a copy of your personal data.  You also have a right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office www.ico.org.uk

Preferences

You can change your preferences at any time about what you receive from us, including marketing and fundraising materials, or how we contact you, by mail, phone or email.

Updating you Details

We do appreciate that you keep your details up to date.  You can do so in the same way as updating your preferences.

Tell us to stop processing

You have the right to request details of the information that we hold about you.  To receive a copy of the personal information we hold please write to our Chief Officer at the Lagan Navigation Trust, Navigation House, 148 Hillsborough Road, Lisburn, BT28 5QY.  We will respond within one month of receiving this request.
